I am a Dentistry student at Griffith University and my ultimate aim is to one day work with the Encouragement House to bring basic dental care to remote villages in East Timor. When not at university I work in Client Management at Bonfire Hot Yoga. I am passionate about healthcare, human rights, gender equality, youth empowerment, animal rights, the environment, the arts, and the power of theatre.
When I was 15 years old I went on exchange to Bavaria, Germany for a year. Since graduating high school I have completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Drama), which I graduated with distinction, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) in Drama in which I wrote my thesis 'Female Absence in Professional Australia Theatre', which received First Class Honours. I used my time in these degrees to explore my passion for theatre and gender equality while making a decision about which area of healthcare to pursue. During this time I worked on many productions in various roles.
In my extracurricular time I participate in United Nations related events such as BrizMUN, AMUNC, and numerous UN Youth Australia events, including leading a group of Australian high school students on the Pacific Project tour of Timor-Leste. With UN Youth Australia I have also founded, convened and judged events local, state-wide, national and international.
A keen environmental and animal conservationist, at the beginning of 2014 I spent a month working in a turtle hatchery on the west coast of Sri Lanka with a local Sinhalese family. I also plan to spend the 2016-17 university holidays working with a conversation project in Costa Rica.
I am also very interested in health and wellness. In my spare time, I am an amateur hiker and triathlete, having hiked in countries around the world and competed in the Queensland Triathlon Series earlier in 2015. I have also been practising Bikram yoga for 8 years and work at Bonfire Hot Yoga to help bring yoga to the Brisbane community.
In the past I have been involved in competitive show jumping, Gaelic football, state-level sprinting and soccer, Taekwondo, and Opera Queensland and Zen Zen Zo workshops.
